Arrive to school on time - tardies matter

Arrive to school on time - tardies matter
Students arriving after the morning bell will be considered tardy and must report to the school office to obtain a pass to class. Tardies in which a student has an excused pass from a teacher or administrator will not count against the student's attendance. Tardies that could have been avoided or that do not have prior approval are considered unexcused. Examples of unexcused tardies include overslept, tired or missed the bus.

Where students should be when the bell rings
Bell #1, 7:50 a.m. Students can enter the building and head to their classroom.
Bell #2, 8 a.m. Five minute warning. Students should be in the building or in the locker bay headed to their room.
Bell #3, 8:05 a.m. Students should be in their classroom, at their desks, ready to learn.

Students who are not in the building by 8:05 a.m. will receive a tardy slip.

Inclement Weather Notice

Grades K-4: Inclement Weather and Early School Closings
School may be canceled if the safety of students and employees may be threatened by severe weather or other circumstances. The superintendent will make a decision about closing school or school buildings as early in the day as possible. Notifications will be placed on the district website,  www.rockford.k12.mn.us, and through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. School closing announcements will be broadcast over KARE (11) TV and also placed on their web site at www.KARE11.com (click on School Alert). Announcements may also be made to radio station KRWC (1360) - Buffalo, WCCO (4) TV, KSTP (5) TV and KMSP (9) TV.

Please be sure to view the link below regarding inclement weather and school closing procedures.

Inclement Weather Plan and School Closing Procedures

As a reminder for our NWSISD families, if a school district closes, all transportation in or out of that district is canceled for the day. If a school district decides to have a 2-hour late start, due to weather, no AM transportation will be provided, however, PM transportation will be provided.

Generally, school will be in session if it is felt that the buses can make their routes in relative safety. Even if school is in session, parents are asked to assess their situation and determine whether or not it is safe for their children to attend school on a particular day. If a parent determines not to send their child to school due to deteriorating weather conditions, the absence will be excused.
